A Maryland State trooper's vehicle was struck during an attempt to stop an impaired driver Sunday night, reports WBAL-TV.

Dillon C. Haneke, 23, of Edgewater, MD, is accused of driving his car into the side of Glen Burnie Barrack trooper Andrew Lee's patrol car.

Lee was attempting to stop Haneke just west of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge on Route 50 in Anne Arundel County on the suspicion of impaired driving after receiving reports from concerned drivers.

Lee spotted the reported vehicle weaving and driving about 10 mph. The trooper activated his emergency lights and attempted to stop the car repeatedly but Haneke did not stop, police said.

Haneke struck the driver's side of the trooper's car. While still in contact with the trooper's car, Haneke's car then struck the jersey wall and turned onto its side prior to the Bay Bridge.

The patrol car did not overturn. No other vehicles were involved.

Haneke was not injured, but was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, assault, and reckless endangerment after troopers observed multiple signs of impairment.
