Maryland Auxiliary Officer Saves Boy Pinned Under School Bus

A Parkville, Md., man who serves as Baltimore County auxiliary police officer is being labeled a hero after he rescued a child who was pinned underneath a school bus after it veered off the street.

Police say the driver, 61-year-old Arturo Roberto Harris, left four students unattended on the bus in front of High Point High School on Monday morning. The bus then drifted across Powder Mill Road and hit 7-year-old Ivas who was waiting at a bus stop.

Knight told WBFF-TV he saw the bus hit Ivas and ran over to try and help him. "He was yelling and screaming, 'please get me out, please get me out.'" Knight says his training as a Baltimore County auxiliary officer helped him safely pull the boy from under the bus.
