A man is facing a long list of charges after allegedly tasering a Jefferson Davis Parish, Louisiana, sheriff’s deputy and trying to steal his patrol car after the deputy stopped to help him.
Mark Buller, 44, of Iowa, was walking in a poorly lit area of La. 99 north of Welsh in bad weather Friday night, Louisiana State Police Troop D spokesperson Matt Gaspard said. The deputy stopped to help Buller, leading to a physical altercation, KPLCTV reports.
Buller grabbed the deputy’s Taser and used it on him before trying to take the patrol car, Trooper Gaspard said. The deputy fired a shot but did not hit Buller.
Deputies and officers arrived on the scene and took Buller into custody. He and the deputy were both treated for non-life-threatening injuries, Gaspard said.
Buller faces charges that include attempted first-degree murder, disarming of a peace officer, aggravated second-degree battery, and attempted theft of a motor vehicle.
