Man Charged With Carjacking Detroit Police Officer

A Detroit man is being arraigned in Wayne County, MI, on Tuesday on charges that he assaulted a police officer and stole the cruiser before crashing it a few blocks away.

Jerome Adams, 36, was charged on Tuesday with stealing a marked Detroit Police scout car on Sunday in Detroit after he assaulted the officer, reports WJBK .

According to the Wayne County prosecutor, Adams was on Woodward just north of Little Caesar's Arena when he dropped his bicycle and ran to enter a running Detroit PD car. Adams is accused of assaulting an officer near the car and driving away.

He made it two blocks and crashed into a hydraulic barricade near Little Caesar's Arena where he was arrested.
