Man Accused of Striking Texas Officer in Head with Pipe

A man in Texas is accused of striking an officer in the head with a pipe on Tuesday evening in the Dallas suburb of Cockrell Hill.

According to NBC News , police said the officer was providing backup to paramedics who were treating an individual at a residence and had called for police assistance.

The man reportedly became upset at the arrival of the officer and launched his assault.

The officer suffered minor injuries and is expected to be OK.

The suspect was charged with assault to a public servant and taken to a mental health facility for evaluation.
