A Louisville police officer who was shot in the leg during the March 13 attempt to serve a warrant on Breonna Taylor, who was killed in a shootout between police and her boyfriend, is now speaking to the media, the Daily Mail reports.
Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly was the only officer wounded in the incident. He was reportedly shot by Taylor's boyfriend Kenneth Walker. Walker reportedly only fired once. He told investigators he thought the officers were robbers.
Mattingly and two other officers returned fire and Breonna Taylor was killed. The controversial officer-involved shooting sparked protests and riots in Louisville and other cities.
"There was so much disinformation out. This is not relatable to George Floyd. This is nothing like it. This is not Ahmaud Arbery. It’s nothing like it," Mattingly said.
'It’s not a race thing like people want to try to make it to be,' he added in an exclusive interview with ABC News/The Courier Journal that will air on Wednesday.
