An officer with the Sulphur (LA) Police Department was recently hailed on a local television news program for doing something he likely never thought would become part of a public dialog—a simple act of kindness for a young boy who wanted a bicycle but whose family could not easily afford the purchase.
According to WBTV, Officer Justin Foster accompanied the young boy on a scheduled "Shop with a Cop" event, and learned that the child wanted a bicycle.
The mother of the boy said that Officer Foster "was really down on Gavyn's level" as they walked through the store.
The boy was gifted the bike in December, but soon thereafter it was stolen from the family's property.
After hearing the news of the family's property loss, Officer Foster appeared at the boy's home with a replacement bicycle.
The mother of the boy told the news station, "I'm so grateful. They go above and beyond the call of duty. I believe every person that is put in our life, it's not on accident. You know, he has had such a positive impact on Gavyn's life. It's really been a blessing."
