Louisiana Corporal Dies of Apparent Heart Attack

The Rapides Parish (LA) Sheriff's Office posted on its Facebook page that Corporal Robert Johnson died Tuesday evening of an apparent heart attack while loading his patrol unit at the start of his shift.

Corporal Johnson was 43 years old and had been with the Sheriff's Office since 1995. He was a school resource officer at Ruby Wise Elementary School. He leaves behind a wife and three daughters.

"Please keep Robert's wife, children, family and friends in your thoughts and prayers as well as our Sheriff's Office family, during this most difficult time," said Sheriff Hilton. "Robert was a good deputy, always helpful and truly loved his assignment as an SRO. The Ruby Wise Elementary where Robert worked has a mission statement that says 'To develop a safe nurturing environment that promotes lifelong learning.' Robert did his part and more to honor that mission statement of providing a safe environment for children to learn. Robert will be missed greatly by all those who knew him."
