LAPD Watchdog Questions Chief On Police Shootings

The rise in Los Angeles police shootings isn't necessarily connected to the rise in assaults on officers, the Los Angeles Police Commission's independent monitor asserts in a new report.

The finding by Alex Bustamante, the commission's inspector general runs counter to rationale presented by Chief Charlie Beck earlier this year. Bustamante scrutinized the 2011 assault and shooting figures in a report he will present to the commission Tuesday.
