According to ESPN , former NBA basketball player Tyler Honeycutt killed himself during a standoff with police on Friday.

The Los Angeles Police Department says it responded Friday afternoon to a report of a man with a gun, and during the initial encounter, the suspect fired a shot out of a residence and officers returned fire.

"The Los Angeles Police Department says it responded Friday afternoon to a report of a man with a gun, and during the initial encounter, the suspect fired a shot out of a residence and officers returned fire," ESPN said.
SWAT officers entered the residence, and found Honeycutt unresponsive.
The department said on Twitter , "Regarding last nights Officer-Involved Shooting in Van Nuys Division, it appears as if the suspect was not struck by any officer’s gunfire. The suspect appears to have sustained injuries consistent with a self-inflicted gunshot wound."
Honeycutt had played for the Sacramento Kings and the Houston Rockets before moving overseas and playing for a Russian team.
The EuroLeague Tweeted , "The Euroleague Basketball family expresses its sadness on the untimely passing of Tyler Honeycutt and offers condolences to his family, friends, teammates, coaches and many fans. May he rest in peace."
