Grissom, 27, was pulled over by a Culver City PD officer in a parking lot as a suspect in the robbery of a nearby electronics store. Four other officers responded to the scene along with a supervisor.
The officers drew their weapons and ordered Grissom out of his vehicle. Moments after he exited the vehicle, Officer Luis Martinez fired three rounds from a subgun that fatally struck Grissom.
Martinez testified that Grissom had his back to the officers and turned to reveal a shiny object, while the other officers testified that he was facing them and unarmed, reports the
