With emotion cracking in his voice, Indianapolis Metro Police Chief Paul Ciesielski announced that Officer David Moore would not survive gunshot wounds sustained Sunday, and said the officer is a "true warrior," reports the Indianapolis Star.
Officer Moore, 29, will be removed from life support when organ-donor recipients are found. Moore was critically wounded Sunday, when he was shot twice in the face during a vehicle stop.
Officer Moore's parents — Spencer Moore, a retired IMPD lieutenant, and Sgt. Jo Moore , who recently entered her 26th year on the force — spoke during a press conference with his mother saying, "Somebody's gonna get a darn good heart."
