A Greenfield (Ind.) Police officer was struck and killed this morning while riding his bicycle on Interstate-40 with two other officers during training, reports the Indianapolis Star.
Bicycle patrol officer William Phillips and two other officers were on a training mission and riding from Greenfield to Knightstown and back. The accident took place near the Hancock-Henry county line about 12:45 a.m.
"Their shift ends at 10 p.m., and that's when the three of them would bicycle all the time," Greenfield Mayor Brad DeReamer told IndyStar.com. "They had all the protective gear with (glow) sticks and flashing red lights and reflective material — everything you could have."
