Illinois Department Cuts 7 Positions, After Arbitrator's Ruling

The Naperville (Ill.) PD has eliminated seven positions, following an arbitrator's ruling giving officers retroactive raises, reports the Chicago Tribune.

Six officers will be laid off and one position will be frozen, following the ruling, which gave officers retroactive raises of 3 percent to 3.3 percent back to 2009.

The number of rank-and-file police officers in the city of 145,000 was reduced to 131 from 138.
