A handcuffed suspect in Oklahoma reportedly escaped custody, stole a four-wheel ATV, and led police on a high-speed pursuit before crashing Tuesday evening.
“A Jones (OK) officer was transporting a prisoner to the Oklahoma County Detention Center on charges of grand larceny,” Officer David Cagle of the Jones Police Department told KFOR. “Basically, [being held on] suspicion of stealing catalytic converters and copper wire and things like this.”
But Jones Police say the suspect, now identified as Lucas Strider, got the door of a patrol unit open and escaped into the woods where he reportedly stole the ATV.
He was then later spotted in Edmond and Edmond Police started a pursuit.

The ATV reached speeds over 70 miles per hour and police used tactics that force him into a mud puddle where he wiped out and then surrendered.
