An employee of a Union City, Ga., McDonald’s was arrested over the weekend and charged with serving Union City police officer Wendell Adams with a burger that made him violently ill.
Kendra Bull, 20, faces charges of reckless conduct. She was jailed but has since posted a $1,000 bail.
Bull told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that she accidentally spilled salt on the hamburger meat. Then she and another employee attempted to remove the salt from the meat and were largely unsuccessful.

Bull told the officer that she had accidentally spilled the salt on the meat and had informed her supervisor that the meat was bad. She has implied in an interview with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that her supervisor served the meat anyway because the restaurant’s management has been concerned about food waste. Her supervisor denied the accusation when questioned by police. Bull has been placed on leave without pay while the incident is being investigated.
Authorities contend that Bull showed reckless disregard for the public by serving the meat, but she has not been charged with specifically targeting the officer. However, the remains of the burger have been sent to a state lab for analysis.
