Georgia Man Killed in Standoff After Shooting at Police, Neighbors

As members of the SWAT team approached the house, police said the gunman opened fire again and several rounds hit the SWAT vehicle. At that point, police decided to evacuate the neighborhood and that's when things got intense.

A gunman is dead after terrorizing a neighborhood by shooting at residents and police officers in DeKalb County, Ga.

Police were called to the home on Landgraf Cove and Waldrop Cove Sunday night in reference to a suicidal person threatening to shoot officers. When police showed up, DeKalb's interim chief told WSB TV  the suspect opened fire on officers. They took cover and called in the SWAT team.

As members of the SWAT team approached the house, police said the gunman opened fire again and several rounds hit the SWAT vehicle. At that point, police decided to evacuate the neighborhood and that's when things got intense.

Police said the suspect continued to shoot at them. The SWAT team fired back, rushed inside the house and found the gunman dead. Police have not said if they killed the man or if he committed suicide during the exchange of gunfire.
