Georgia Investigates Qualifications of College's Officers

Georgia investigators are probing the Morris Brown College (Ga.) Police Department, after it was discovered that the college employs officers who often lack proper credentials and training, reports WSBTV.

The college employs 27 officers for a campus of 63 students. The school only requires the officers to work 16 hours a month to remain on the campus police force, making them eligible for lucrative security jobs elsewhere.

Of those 27 officers, 17 have been placed on probation, investigated or publicly reprimanded by the Georgia's Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Council. Several fake identification cards claiming that their holders were "duly sworn police officers" were seized during the investigation.
