Funeral for Slain New Mexico Officer Set for Saturday

Funeral arrangements have been set for an Alamogordo, NM, officer who was shot and killed last Friday.

According to the Hamilton O'Dell Funeral Home, Officer Clint Corvinus' funeral will be Saturday at Tay's Center on New Mexico State University's campus in Alamogordo.

Corvinus, 33, was shot and killed Friday morning while chasing down a suspect. He leaves behind a girlfriend and an 8-year-old daughter, reports KOAT .

Investigators say Corvinus and another officer were on patrol when they both encountered Joe Moreno, 38.

Officials said Moreno led both officers on a foot chase during which gunfire was exchanged. Despite being wounded, Officer Corvinus was able to return fire and killed the subject before succumbing to his wounds at the hospital, reports odmp.org .
