The widow of a Charleston (W.Va.) Police officer who was fatally shot by a fellow officer in an accidental cross-fire incident is suing the city and officer involved in the shooting.
The suit by Samantha Jones, the widow of former Officer Jerry Jones, alleges her husband's civil rights were violated, when he was shot while several officers pursued Brian Good, who had attempted to run over his girlfriend with his vehicle.
The lawsuit claims the officer violated Officer Jones' Fourth Amendment right "to be free from unreasonable seizure by a fellow officer while performing his police work," reports Metro News.
The city was notified a week ago about the lawsuit and offered a settlement for $1 million.
