Fox Cancels 'America's Most Wanted' After 23 Years

Fox will no longer air "America's Most Wanted," after a 23-year run of a show that provided the public a window into law enforcement investigations of violent crimes and helped solve several high-profile cases.

The network hadn't "made money on the show in quite a while," a network executive said.

Fox will air four more episodes of "Wanted" as two-hour specials. The program will cease airing after June 18. In its 23 years, the show's flurry of called-in tips helped local, national and international law enforcement officials nab more than 1,100 bad guys.

Notably, the show helped solve the murder of host John Walsh's 6-year-old son Adam by serial killer Ottis Toole. In January 2001, a tip led to the capture of the Texas Seven, seven convicts escaped from the Karnes City prison. The escaped inmates went on a crime spree and killed Irving Police Officer Aubrey Hawkins.
