Former Florida Officer Accused of Using Police Database as 'Dating Service'

A former sergeant with the Bradenton (FL) Police Department stands accused of using the agency's database to meet women, as well as several other violations.

According to WVLT-TV , former Bradenton Sergeant Leonel Marines has been accused of using his status as a police officer to meet women, and at times, having sex while on duty.

A lengthy internal investigation showed that Marines used database searches of women, to discover phone numbers and other details of women he sought to pursue romantically.

The 12-year veteran was removed from patrol duties after an initial complaint by a couple who grew suspicious of misconduct after Marines visited their home and asked to talk with their adult daughter about a domestic dispute.

Investigators reportedly contacted about 150 women during the investigation.

The FBI is currently reviewing the case. That agency has not specified any potential charges.
