An officer with the Sanibel (FL) Police Department collapsed during a training exercise on Monday evening.
The department said that the officer—63-year-old Anthony Neri—received medical treatment at the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital, where he died.
Neri joined the department in 2012 as a police aide. Three years later, he was promoted to police officer.
