Florida Officer Carries 73-Year-Old Man From Burning Home

An officer with the Pinellas Park (FL) Police Department is being hailed as a hero after he carried a 73-year-old man from his burning home on Friday.

According to the Tampa Bay Times , Police say Officer Jeffrey DeTrano followed responding firefighters to the scene of a house fire, and upon arrival learned that the resident, Christopher Jones, might still be inside.

DeTrano circled the building as firefighters began to deploy their equipment and battle the blaze. He saw through the back door that Jones was huddled down but unresponsive. He entered and extracted the elderly gentleman and carried him to safety.

Jones was transported to a nearby hospital where he was reportedly in stable condition.
