A Hillsborough County (Fla.) Sheriff's police dog nabbed one last suspect, who was wanted for murder, before retiring Friday to cap a successful career, the agency said.
Chino, 7-year-old German shepherd and Belgian Malinois mix, helped deputies capture former pro wrestler Brian McGhee on Wednesday in connection with a fatal stabbing a week earlier.
McGhee led deputies on a pursuit north on Interstate 275, crashed his vehicle, and refused to surrender. Chino jumped into the open door and pinned McGhee by the chest, reports the Tampa Tribune .
Chino joined the sheriff's office in 2008 with a grant from two local businesses. He worked fugitive apprehension and bomb detection missions with Deputy Jason Allen.
