Fla. Department Scritinized in Trayvon Martin Case

An examination of the Sanford (Fla.) Police Department's handling of the Trayvon Martin shooting has revealed several missteps, reports the New York Times .

As the second-degree murder case proceeds against George Zimmerman for the fatal shooting of Martin in February outside a gated community, details of the police investigation have emerged.

During the investigation, officers took only one photo of Zimmerman's injuries, didn't secure Zimmerman's vehicle, and may not have done enough canvassing of the neighborhoods.
