FL Officer Shot in Head in June Died Tuesday

Jason Raynor, the Daytona Beach police officer who was shot in the head in June, has died, the police department announced Tuesday evening.
Raynor, 26, passed away at 8:09 p.m. Tuesday at Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach with his family by his side, WOKV reports.
He is survived by his mother, father, and sister.
“Now more than ever, we ask for all of you to embrace the Raynor family and the Daytona Beach Police Department in your hearts during this devastating time and pray that God will give us all the strength to persevere through this senseless tragedy,” said Police Chief Jakari Young. "Jason’s sacrifice will never be forgotten.”
Raynor was shot in the head during contact with a man sitting in a parked vehicle on the evening of June 23.
The suspect Othal Wallace fled the scene. He was the subject of a multi-state manhunt and surrendered to law enforcement outside of Atlanta days after the shooting.
Wallace now faces a charge of first-degree murder. The Daytona Beach News Journal reports that the State Attorney's Office indicated in an email that they will seek the death penalty in the case.
