Ex-Cop Convicted of Lying About Cyclist Confrontation

A jury has returned a guilty verdict against a former rookie officer seen on videotape knocking a cyclist down during the Critical Mass protest in New York City, the New York Times reports.

Patrick Pogan was convicted Thursday of filing a false police report claiming the cyclist, Christopher Long, knocked him down after steering into him.

Pogan was also convicted on the lesser charge of attesting to the compaint's truthfulness and acquitted of the assault charge.
