Authorities have captured a prisoner who stabbed a Wayne County (Mich.) Sheriff's deputy in a brazen escape Monday from the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice.
By 10 p.m. Monday, 25-year-old Abraham Pearson was back in custody and scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday on more than 10 additional charges including assault with intent to murder, unlawful imprisonment, and impersonating a peace officer to commit a crime, reports the Detroit News .
Pearson's escape came Monday morning, as Deputy Harrison Tolliver was placing him in a holding cell. Pearson repeatedly stabbed the deputy with a plastic comb shaved into a shank.
Pearson took the deputy's uniform and carjacked a woman's gray Plymouth Voyager minivan at 8:20 a.m. He later abandoned that vehicle.
Federal, state, and local law enforcement launched a sweeping manhunt for Pearson, who was arrested with the help of a tipster who called to report a man matching his description flagging down cars near Interstate 94 and Mt. Elliott.
The wounded deputy was released from the hospital on Monday and is expected to fully recover.
