El Paso Police Release Video of Shootout that Wounded Officer, Killed Suspect
Officers and the suspect engaged in a gunfight that ended with one officer being shot in the leg and the suspect down with what appeared on video as multiple gunshot wounds.

The El Paso Police Department has released body-worn camera footage of a June 1 (2025) domestic violence response that led to an exchange of fire between two officers and a 35-year-old suspect.
One officer suffered a leg wound in the gunfight. The suspect was killed.
The video shows officers walking up to the residence and immediately coming under fire from a man police identified as Salvado Valdiviezo.
Officers and the suspect engaged in a gunfight that ended with one officer being shot in the leg and the suspect down with what appeared on video as multiple gunshot wounds. Officers repeatedly commanded the suspect to put down the gun during the shootout.
Valdiviezo was transported to a local hospital where he died.The wounded officer applied a tourniquet to her leg in the field and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
