Driver In Custody In Slaying of Tampa Officers, Search Continues for Shooter
Police have detained Cortnee' Nicole Brantley, 22, to determine the location of passenger Dontae Rashawn Morris, 24. Morris is now wanted on two counts of first-degree murder and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Police have identified the suspected shooter of two Tampa PD officers and are now interviewing the driver of the red 1994 Toyota Camry involved in the traffic stop to locate him, Tampa Bay Online reports.
Police have detained Cortnee' Nicole Brantley, 22, to determine the location of passenger Dontae Rashawn Morris, 24, a parolee now wanted on two counts of first-degree murder and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Morris is believed to have shot Tampa PD's David Curtis and Jeffrey Kocab in the head at close range, after the officers approached the Camry. Curtis had pulled over the vehicle, which was missing a license plate, and called for backup. Officer Curtis determined the passenger was wanted on a worthless check warrant out of Jacksonville. When Kocab arrived, the two officers approached the vehicle.
Morris was released from state prison in April after serving two years on a drug conviction. In 2005, he was arrested by Tampa police on charges of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm and robbery. He was found not guilty.
