An officer with the San Marcos (TX) Police Department who was struck by a car three months ago as he was trying to remove a traffic hazard from the highway will reportedly undergo surgery in which doctors will use 3D printed parts to repair parts of his fractured skull.
According to NBC News, Officer Paul Beller has been undergoing intensive surgeries and rehab therapy in Houston and is scheduled for at least one more surgery to repair an injury to his skull.
Physicians predict the use of the 3D printed parts will help Beller make greater strides in his future recovery.
The agency posted on Facebook that Beller "is making improvements every week."
The post continued, "Officer Beller is walking, with the assistance of a walking boot, able to speak and is coherent, and is working on regaining functionality of portions of the left side of his body."
