DHS Employee with Top Secret Clearance Suspected of Plotting Attack

A Department of Homeland Security intelligence analyst with a top secret clearance may have been plotting an attack on top department officials inside the DHS complex on Nebraska Avenue.

Agents detained him in his office, with a gun, right across the hall from a high-level meeting.

At Jonathan Wienke's home, federal agents searched for guns, two way radios, thermal imaging devices, restraining devices.

They've charged him so far only carrying a pistol without a license but they think he may have been plotting, possibly with someone else to assassinate leaders of the Department of Homeland Security.

Agents say they stopped Wienke for a random screening as he was walking into work at the heavily fortified Department of Homeland Security.

In his backpack, they say they found a couple of two-way radios, a camera to detect heat signatures, a pair of handcuffs, and a folding knife, and pepper spray. After seizing his knife and pepper spray, they let him walk in to his office.

An hour and a half later, they apparently decided to double check, and found him in his office, with a revolver in his pocket loaded with five hollow point rounds, WUSA TV reports.
