, troopers will be "very visible" on the roads and drivers can expect to encounter DUI checkpoints.
The Erie County Sheriff's Office also announced additional DWI patrols for this weekend, funded through Erie County STOP-DWI.
Maryland State Police made a similar announcement, as Lieutenant Joe George
said
, "We’ll definitely have extra troopers on the roads,” he said. “There’ll be pretty much a zero tolerance."
Meanwhile, the Martin County (FL) Sheriff's Office brought a television reporter from
WPTV News
on a ridealong, during which Corporal Jennifer City said, "A lot of people are distracted and we have a lot of impaired driving during the holiday season."
The agency said it too will be increasing patrols in search of distracted and impaired drivers.
