D.C. Chief: Second Officer Shot In Navy Yard Shooting

A second Metropolitan (D.C.) Police officer was hit by gunfire during last week's shooting rampage at the Washington Navy Yard , Chief Cathy Lanier said Tuesday.

During her monthly appearance on NewsChannel 8's "NewsTalk" show, Lanier said a second officer was struck by two rounds in the chest, but his ballistic vest saved his life.

Officer Scott Williams , a 23-year veteran, was hit twice in the legs and remains hospitalized. She expects him to be released this week, reports the Washington Post .
