To close a $26.5-million budget gap, city officials in Camden, N.J., have announced plans to lay off half of the city's unionized workers, including police officers, reports the Courier-Post.

The city was recently named the second most dangerous in the nation in the annual CQ Press survey , after holding the top slot the prior year.
