Among his numerous tattoos, Arbitelle had a screaming skull on his face and “white power” on his back.
In 2010, Paul Arbitelle was found guilty of interfering with an officer, had a DUI in 2009, and had been charged with assaulting a public safety officer in 2012 and in 2016.
Arbitelle pleaded guilty to charges of third-degree assault and interfering with the duties of a police officer and was sentenced to a year in prison in connection with the assault.

when he charged an officer, who first deployed a TASER, and then opened fire when the device failed to stop the assailant's approach.
A woman in the apartment where the incident took place was also wounded. She is reportedly related to the knife-wielding subject.
