A K-9 with the West Hartford Police Department has died from complications from lymphoma that forced him into retirement in January of 2018.

The agency posted on Facebook , "The West Hartford Police Department regrettably announces the passing of retired police K-9 Jett. Jett began working along with Officer Tommy Lazure in 2011. The team was respected in the K-9 community and was well known in this state."

The post continued, "K-9 Jett was born in the Czech Republic in 2010. He was imported and trained by RenBar Kennels graduating as a certified police work dog with the North American Police Work Dog Association. He was less than two years old when he began working."

K-9 Jett and his handler received many accolades during their time working together.
