The Colorado State Patrol says a trooper was outside her patrol car investigating a wreck on I-25 near Castle Rock Sunday at 8:50 p.m. when she was hit. She died from her injuries on the scene of the crash.

She was later identified as 33-year-old Jaimie Jursevics. Jursevics has been with CSP since January 2011. She is survived by her husband and young child.
"We're all grieving," Colorado State Patrol Chief Scott Hernandez said. "We're grieving for the family of the trooper, and I'd hope that all of you and everyone keeps ... your thoughts and prayers for this trooper and the trooper's family."
CSP says the driver of the vehicle was taken into custody, and the details surrounding why the driver struck the trooper are unknown at this time, KUSA TV reports.
