An officer in Colorado has been ordered by his Home Owners Association (HOA) to remove from his doorstep a "Thin Blue Line" flag displayed in support of law enforcement.
According to CBS News, the officer—who resides in Centennial but whose name and agency affiliation have not been released—was told that displaying the flag in such a manner was in violation of neighborhood policies.
"I'm proud to be a police officer," he told a local reporter, adding that he had been displaying the flag for many years without complaint.
Upon receiving the order to remove the flag in a letter sent via mail, he said, "I thought it was ridiculous. If it was an issue why didn’t they bring it to me from day one?"
He added that he would keep the flag flying, fighting the order to pull it down.
"I'm going to leave it up, and I’m going to send back the letter to the HOA fighting the reason for the flag, and hopefully they’ll listen," the officer said.
