Colo. Theater Shooter Wants Life To Avoid Death Penalty

The attorneys for James Holmes have offered a guilty plea in the Aurora, Colo., theater shooting in exchange for prosecutors sparing their client's life, reports the Denver Post .

"Mr. Holmes is currently willing to resolve the case to bring the proceedings to a speedy and definite conclusion for all involved," the lawyers wrote in a Wednesday court motion.

Prosecutors said they would announce Monday whether they will seek the death penalty against Holmes, who is accused of killing 12 people on July 20 during a midnight screening of "The Dark Knight Returns."

Several sources, including the Washington Times , have reported that Holmes has converted to Islam while in prison and prays five times a day.
