Civilian Officers Give Accounts of Fort Hood Shooting
Sgt. Mark Todd and Officer Kimberly Munley were the first to arrive at the chaotic scene, after Hasan opened fire in the soldier readiness center, eventually killing 13 people and wounding 32 others.
Two civilian military police officers who responded to the Fort Hood massacre in November 2009 testified Wednesday that they ended the threat by firing paralyzing rounds into Army Maj. Nidal Hasan and then placing him in handcuffs, reports the Washington Post.
Sgt. Mark Todd and Officer Kimberly Munley were the first to arrive at the chaotic scene, after Hasan opened fire in the soldier readiness center, eventually killing 13 people and wounding 32 others.
During the Article 32 hearing — the military's version of a preliminary hearing — Todd said he confronted the shooter when Hasan's red laser sight pointed at him. He yelled "Halt! Military Police!"
Todd exchanged fire with Hasan, saw him wince, and ran toward him to knock the gun out of hs hands and place him in custody. Munley, who was struck by several of Hasan's rounds, also fired at the shooter but said she wasn't sure if she struck him.
