Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle—who is running to be the next Mayor of Chicago—says she would make some significant changes to the way in which police in the Windy City conduct business.

For starters, Preckwinkle would dismantle the city's gang database and freeze the proposed construction of a new $95 million police and fire academy because she believes that "our highest priority is curriculum and content, not buildings and amenities."
Preckwinkle says her plan to end the gang database is because it’s largely comprised of black and brown people, according to the Chicago Sun Times.
Her plan—called "Building a Safer Chicago"—reportedly focuses on rebuilding citizen trust and bolstering civilian oversight.
