Chauvin Found Guilty on All Counts

Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin has been found guilty of all counts in the in-custody death of George Floyd in May of last year.

Chauvin has been convicted of unintentional second degree murder, third degree murder, and second degree manslaughter. The convictions carry maximum sentences of 40 years, 25 years and 10 years in prison, respectively. 

The jury deliberated less than 12 hours in the case.

Bail was revoked and Chauvin was taken into custody by the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office.

A sentencing date has not been set.

Crowds cheered as the verdict was read. They were chanting to law enforcement that they should go home now, NPR reported.
