California Officer Shot, Suspect Steals and Crashes Patrol Vehicle
The suspect reportedly drove off in the CHP patrol vehicle and crashed into a semi truck, causing both vehicles to plunge down an embankment. The patrol vehicle burned.

A California Highway Patrol officer was shot with a rifle Sunday while checking out a disabled vehicle on I-5 in Tehama County. The officer shot and wounded the suspect who was apprehended after a vehicle pursuit ended in a crash and later died at the hospital.
KRCR reports that the officer involved in the incident is expected to survive his injuries. He has reportedly undergone surgery and is in Intensive Care. The suspect in the incident has died at Enloe Medical Hospital. Officials have yet to share whether the suspect or the officer suffered gunshot wounds.
