California Officer, 2 Others Injured in Apartment Fire

An officer with the Santa Cruz (CA) Police Department and a civilian man and woman were injured in an apartment fire on Wednesday.

According to the Register-Pajaronian , police were initially dispatched to the scene for a call of a domestic dispute when the male subject—identified as Grant Washburn—"intentionally" set a fire and retreated to the second story of the residence.

Responders extracted the woman and police were able to take the man into custody after deploying a TASER.

The officer suffered smoke inhalation and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
