California Man Arrested After Exchanging Gunfire with Officer

A man who reportedly exchanged gunfire with an officer with the Lodi (CA) Police Department has been arrested after receiving treatment for multiple gunshot wounds.

According to the Sacramento Bee , police had responded to a shots fired call in the early morning hours on Tuesday and arriving officers came under fire.

The man—identified as 37-year-old Mario Kimo Aquino—was struck several times and subsequently transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Aquino has been charged with attempted murder, assault on a peace officer with a deadly weapon, two counts of burglary, as well as multiple gun- and drug-related charges.

The officer involved was not injured.
