The Kern County (California) Sheriff’s Office has released body-camera video for the moments when three deputies and an officer for the U.S. Forest Service escape flames of the Borel Fire after they were briefly trapped.
California Deputies Trapped by Wildfire, Rescued by Fire Crew
The Kern County Sheriff's Office said during the evacuations, at around 4:35 p.m., the deputies and the officer discovered that the fire had spread to an area blocking the roadway.

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office said on Friday, July 26, 2024, three deputies assigned to the Kern River Valley Substation and an officer for U.S. Forest Service conducted evacuations for the Borel Fire in Havilah, Bakersfield Now reports.
KCSO said during the evacuations, at around 4:35 p.m., the deputies and the officer discovered that the fire had spread to an area blocking the roadway.
A deputy said on the radio call, "Hey, we appear to be surrounded by fire."
KCSO said the deputies and officer drove to meet the fire crews nearby.
After meeting with the fire crew, the video shows deputies giving a member of the fire crew a hug.
They were able to safely escaped the fiery roadblocks after nearly 40 minutes and multiple close calls.
