California Deputies Rescued Lyft Driver After 911 Text

San Diego County Sheriff’s deputies recently rescued a kidnapped Lyft driver after she managed to use Text to 911 to alert them to her situation.

On Sunday, March 9, just after 9:30 p.m., the Sheriff's Communications Center received a "Text to 911" message from a woman claiming to be a Lyft driver. In her message, she explained she was being held against her will by a passenger she had just picked up in Spring Valley. The man, later identified as Shane Capezio (22), reportedly threatened the driver and told her he had a gun. He ordered her to take him to a marijuana dispensary, officials said.

Deputies from the Lemon Grove Sheriff's Substation and Rancho San Diego Sheriff's Station arrived at the dispensary and located the Lyft driver's car in the parking lot, the Sierra Sun Times reports.  They detained Capezio.

Capezio did not have a gun, according to deputies. He was arrested on numerous charges, including kidnapping, robbery, false imprisonment, dissuading a victim and preventing a victim from calling 911.
