Law enforcement leaders around the county say state cutbacks leading to the freeing of so-called nonviolent offenders will lead to the release of offenders who are clearly a danger to society.
In California, Los Angeles District Attorney Steve Cooley released a report detailing a few of those who would be freed — a methamphetamine addict caught in possession of a flame thrower, a woman who performed abortions without medical training and a credit-card hacker responsible for $6.5 million in losses.
